· SpongeBob is an American animated television series created by animator and former biologiste1 Stephen Hillenburg. The series focuses primarily on the exploits and adventures of a small square yellow sponge anthropomorphic and friends located at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean in a town called Bikini Bottom. The popularity of the show has created a franchise. This is the series that has the largest audience of the TV channel Nickelodeon, the largest distribution and MTV Networks is one of the most animated regardés2 Nicktoons. As of 2013, SpongeBob SquarePants is the only Nicktoon 1990s not to have ended.

· The creation of the character of SpongeBob was designed by Hillenburg in 1984 in a study of marine biology at the Ocean Institute, Dana Point, California, USA, where he wrote a screenplay titled The Intertidal Zone in which marine life forms anthropomorphic were staged, including SpongeBob. Hillenburg left the institute to become leader in 1987, and later joined the California Institute of the Arts in 1992. In the institute, he created the thesis film Wormholes (1992), which led him to a career as a director, screenwriter producer and executive producer of the series Rocko's Modern Life created by Joe Murray. He began developing the series Bob the sponge in 1996.

· The series aired for the first time on 1 May 1999 on Nickelodeon after the release of the Kids' Choice Awards. The first episodes were Welcome aboard The Grand Cleaning and Asphyxiation chain. The preliminary first "official" series is then followed with episodes Sculptures A new comic bubbles and 17 July 1999. In 2000, the popularity of the series increases. November 19, 2004, the first film in the series is broadcast in film. SpongeBob is revived for a ninth season on January 3 20113.

· SpongeBob is broadcast internationally and translated into various languages. In France, the series aired on TF1 from 30 October 20004 in the TF show! Jeunesse5 on Canal J since September 30, 2003 and on Teletoon and Nickelodeon + France6 since 2005, and Quebec on CBC and VRAK.TV7. The series is broadcast from February 21, 2015 on France 3 in Ludo.
